Cognitive Failures: Relationship with Perceived Emotions, Stress, and Resting Vagally-Mediated Heart Rate Variability

چکیده
Cognitive failures represent everyday task that individuals are normally capable of completing. While cognitive measured with the Failures Questionnaire can be considered a trait, psychophysiological states associated yet to fully understood. The aim this paper was investigate extent which perception experiencing in daily life is both psychological (i.e., perceived emotional valence, intensity, and stress), as well physiological vagally-mediated heart rate variability, vmHRV) variables. A total 69 participants were involved study (47 male, 22 female; Mage = 22.4 years). Participants underwent 5-min variability measurement filled out self-report variables, before completing Questionnaire, providing scores for Distractibility, Forgetfulness, False Triggering. When combining predictors together into hierarchical regression analysis, only model related Distractibility subscale found significant (unique negative predictor: resting vmHRV). Further research should whether influencing vmHRV, interventions such slow-paced breathing, may decrease distractibility.

Trait Self-Compassion Reflects Emotional Flexibility Through an Association with High Vagally Mediated Heart Rate Variability
Converging evidence shows a positive effect of self-compassion on self-reported well-being and mental health. However, few studies have examined the relation between self-compassion and psychophysiological measures. In the present study, we therefore examined the relation between trait self-compassion and vagally mediated heart rate variability (vmHRV) in 53 students (39 female, mean age = 23.6...
متن کاملIndividual differences in resting heart rate variability and cognitive control in posttraumatic stress disorder
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is characterized by deficits in cognitive functioning, particularly cognitive control. Moreover, these deficits are thought to play a critical role in the etiology and maintenance of core PTSD symptoms such as intrusive thoughts and memories. However, the psychophysiological concomitants of cognitive control remain largely unexamined. In this article, we su...
متن کاملVagally mediated heart rate variability in headache patients--a systematic review and meta-analysis.
OBJECTIVE Vagal nerve activity-indexed by heart rate variability (HRV)-has been linked to altered pain processing and inflammation, both of which may underpin headache disorders and lead to cardiovascular disease (CVD). Here we examined the evidence for differences in parasympathetic (vagal) activity indexed by time- and frequency-domain measures of HRV in patients with headache disorders compa...
متن کاملVagally-mediated heart rate variability and indices of well-being: Results of a nationally representative study.
OBJECTIVE High frequency (HF) heart rate variability (HRV) has long been accepted as an index of cardiac vagal control. Recent studies report relationships between HF-HRV and indices of positive and negative affect, personality traits and well-being but these studies generally are based on small and selective samples. METHOD These relationships were examined using data from 967 participants i...
متن کاملVagally mediated heart rate variability and heart rate entropy as predictors of treatment outcome in flight phobia.
In the present study a computer-assisted exposure-based treatment was applied to 54 flight phobics and the predictive role of vagally mediated heart rate (HR) variability (high frequency, 0.15-0.4 Hz band power) and heart rate entropy (HR time series sample entropy) on treatment outcome was investigated. Both physiological measures were taken under controlled breathing at 0.2 Hz and during expo...
